Genital Area
-Penoplasty
Intimate surgery, more precisely penoplasty or penile surgery (enlargement and or lengthening of the penis) can allow a man who has had complexes for a long time to feel better, both physically and psychologically. Sometimes there is no embarrassment, and modern man is just looking to gain a little more confidence and assert his virility.
Enlargement penoplasty increases the diameter and length of the penis by 2-3 cm at rest. The lengthening penoplasty makes it possible to increase its length by 2 to 4 cm at rest, and to a lesser extent in erection. While enlargement penoplasty is the most common, it is often associated with its lengthening, during the same surgical procedure.
The 2 procedures are fairly rapid (approximately 1 hour each and 2 hours for both), and are most often performed as outpatient surgery with return home the same evening of the intervention. Enlargement consists of subcutaneous lipofilling and leaves no visible scars. The lengthening is enabled by the section of the suspensory ligament of the penis, through a short incision hidden in the pubic hair.
The consequences are especially marked by edema more or less significant which will regress in 2 to 3 weeks. During this period, genital hygiene should be impeccable after each urination, and sexual activities should be suspended. It will take 3 to 6 months to appreciate the final result.
Complications are rare. For lengthening, cases of hypertrophic scarring have been reported. This can easily be camouflaged in the pubic hair.
-Nymphoplastie
The genital lips are the mucous membranes that surround the entrance to the vagina. There are two pairs of them: the labia majora and the labia minora.
Their size and appearance vary from woman to woman and change over time. The labia minora can in particular increase in volume following one or more childbirths.
It is possible to reshape the genital lips: this is nymphoplasty (or labioplasty).
In recent years, the number of nymphoplasties has increased. "Twenty years ago, I used to do one or two a year," says Dr. Cyril Afeiche, gynecological surgeon. “Today, I operate 4 to 6 patients per month. "

+When And Why To Operate?
In "medical literature", the labia minora are considered enlarged (abnormally large) when they measure more than 4 cm. This size criterion and the possible complex that results from it are not the only reasons that lead some women to consider a nymphoplasty. Some want to have sex that looks like what you see in pornography. However, there is no "standard model": each vulva is unique! "But others are really embarrassed in everyday activities," says Dr Afeiche.
“The practice of certain sports (cycling, horseback riding, etc.) or tight clothing and underwear cause friction or pinching. Enlarged labia minora can also interfere with intercourse, or make it downright painful. »So many reasons that can justify a nymphoplasty.
In practice, 6 out of 10 consultations will not result in an intervention. It is the doctor's role to distinguish between a complaint based on real embarrassment and unrealistic expectations about the so-called “ideal” sex often conveyed by pornography ...

+Nymphoplasty techniques
A. longitudinal resection / B. triangular resection
Lymphoplasty aims to remove excess skin and / or fat to harmonize the appearance of the labia minora. There are two main techniques of nymphoplasty:
* Triangular resection consists of cutting an excess (and localized) triangle of the lip (B).
* Longitudinal resection involves removing mucosa all along the lip (A). This technique is preferred when there is a large excess of lips and / or when it is hyperpigmented (dark in color).
The technique is chosen according to the specific needs and anatomy of each woman. Lymphoplasty is performed in less than an hour, most often under general anesthesia, as part of a day hospital stay.
+A Dangerous Operation?
Performed by experienced surgeons in a suitable medical environment, nymphoplasty presents no more risk of complications than any other procedure. However, a few precautions should be taken before and after the operation:
* The day before the operation: the patient must do an intimate toilet with an iodine-based antiseptic, for example. It must imperatively be on an empty stomach at least 6 hours before the operation.
* After the operation: the patient should take antibiotics for a few days and disinfect the operated area daily. Resumption of professional activities can be done 3-4 days after the operation. On the other hand, baths and sexual intercourse are prohibited for at least 3 weeks.
+Following and Complications of a Nymphoplasty
The threads used for a nymphoplasty are absorbable; they should therefore not be removed after the operation.
Some small complications can occur in the days following the operation:
* Slight swelling of the labia minora,
* Bruises,
* Sensation of discomfort ("tension"), even pain.
These complications disappear after about ten days. In some cases, a skin, vaginal or urinary infection can occur, but these complications are rarer.
It takes 6 weeks to see the final result of a labiaplasty. Usually scars are barely noticeable.
